VAT Exemption

Pink Line Separator Small

Most of our products qualify for a VAT relief. If the user is disabled or has a long-term illness, VAT does not need to be paid.

Are you eligible?

Put simply, if the intended user has a disability or chronic illness, you will not be charged VAT on products designed/adapted for personal or domestic use. This also includes repairs, maintenance, spare parts or accessories.

To get the product VAT free both the product and your disability/illness have to qualify. For VAT purposes, you’re disabled or have a long-term illness if:

  • you have a physical or mental impairment that affects your ability to carry out everyday activities, for example blindness
  • you have a condition that’s treated as chronic sickness, like diabetes
  • you’re terminally ill

How to remove VAT?

Shopping online with My Assisted Living ensures this process is very simple. When purchasing a product that is eligable for VAT exemption, you will be asked at checkout if you qualify.

Fill out the simple form with your details and the 20% VAT will be removed. Therefore eligible products will be charged 0% rather than 20% VAT, a large saving for most customers.
